Class 2 of 15

Today we will start writing some HTML code. To begin, make sure you have read chapter 2 in your book to get some basic understand of HTML tags and how we format an HTML page.

I've also assigned chapters 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 with this unit. At least skim them for now so you understand the main concepts - and reference them as needed. Chapter 4 is about HTML5. We won't get far enough into coding for HTML5 to mean much to us in this class, but it's still a valuable chapter to understand.

When you have finished reading, download and complete this HTML worksheet. You'll also need to download this photo. Please take your time to make sure you understand what you are doing with each step of the process. When I'm writing code, I have the same document open in both my text editor and my browser, like this:

That way, when I update something in the text editor, I can save it and then refresh in my browser to see the update.

Once you have finished, upload your files to your website via FTP and post a link to your page in the comments area below. This assignment is due by 11 p.m. Wednesday (May 23).
